I had the privilege of receiving an early copy of Taming You by Alex Taylor and absolutely loved it! This was my first book of hers and I already cannot wait to pick up the rest of the Destined Love series. I have so much to share with you guys about this book, so let’s jump right into it!

Synopsis

Zoey is busy trying to settle into a career until she finds a baby outside of her best friend’s brother’s door. In order to escape her own problems, she decides to stick around and help Matt find his way into fatherhood. Knowing he’s only in to hook ups, Zoey tries to keep her lifelong crush at an arm’s length - though it seems becoming a father may have changed his point of view. Perhaps his younger sister’s best friend is the one woman who could tame him.

As I stare at her, I wonder if I’ve bounced from woman to woman because I’ve spent the last twelve years in love with my sister’s best friend, but had convinced myself I couldn’t have her.

Favorites

I opened this book and IMMEDIATELY was hooked! Alex Taylor really dove right into the unique plot of this book, starting her novel with, “A baby?”. If you know anything about me, you know I absolutely hate unexpected pregnancy in a book. Well, let me tell you that I am completely sold on the unexpected baby trope. This was such a fun and hectic read - the scenario felt so unrealistic and yet there were such realistic relationships and emotions, that it seemed to overpower any suspicion of the storyline.

Zoey and Matt were so darling! Their friendship, alone, was so refreshing and I loved getting to see a platonic relationship like theirs. Zoey’s character was completely selfless and would do anything for those around her. She is a perfect mixture of confidence and class and I would give anything to be like her! Aside from her character, the struggle leaving college and searching for her “dream” career could be so relatable for many readers in their twenties, and I found myself relating to her in this way. Even Matt’s unexpected jump into parenthood caused him such anxiety and self doubt that I feel a lot of young or expecting parents could experience.

The slow burn… The build up of tension and emotion between these two was extraordinary. I thought that the dual pov was such a great writing choice and absolutely loved being in both of their heads. It made it so easy to root for them to be together!

It even has a “dicktionary”…. I mean COME ON! It’s pure perfection.

Someone’s ambitious.”

”When it comes to you, always.

ICKS

I feel as though the third-act conflict could have been predictable to some readers, but I really didn’t mind it! I despise a third-act breakup, so I thought Alex Taylor’s choice here was more realistic. The only issue that I had was Zoey’s seemingly out-of-character “temper”. I felt that she really overstepped in this situation and would have liked to see more of the maturity that she displayed throughout the rest of the book.

It’s a ladybug,” she says., stating the obvious. “It is.” I grin at her. “You remembered.” Disbelief fills her voice...

”I’ll never forget the little girl who would lie in the grass and watch the lady bugs for hours.

Final Thoughts

I ate this book up in two days and absolutely could have done it in one sitting if I had the time. If you are a fan of contemporary romance and are looking for a unique plot with loveable main characters, I 100% recommend Taming You!

I cannot thank Alex Taylor enough for sending this arc to me and trusting me with her work. I had such a phenomenal time reading this book and writing my review. Be sure to check out Taming You, now available on Kindle Unlimited and Amazon! If you’ll excuse me, I am now onto the rest of her books - happy reading my friends!
