November - Surviving A Book Slump

Unfortunately, this post will NOT be much of a monthly wrap up. This month was super busy and put me in quite the book slump. I started four different books and couldn’t get more than 25% through any of them. I decided to take the hint and enjoy a brief break from reading. I’ll share some of the things I was up to this month as well as the few books I started and how I feel about them!

Early November was definitely difficult. I lost my grandmother and spent a large amount of my time with family. Though I didn’t have the mindset to lose myself in a good book, I was able to do a lot of fun things with friends.

Webkinz came out of retirement and got us QUITE a few laughs. Let me tell you, I do not remember those arcade games being so stressful!

Not only did I hangout with my friends, but I spent plenty of time with my sweet animal babies. Kitty loves when I’m home during the day so she and I did lots of cuddling. I even spent a night at nana’s and took our family dog, Frazier, for a Starbie’s pup cup! Animal therapy is REAL and these little babies definitely helped me so much.

While hanging with Frazier, I got some reading done. I had started Love of My Afterlife by Kristy Greenwood and thought the plot was so cute.

The main character is so silly and there are a lot of rom-com moments that I’ve enjoyed so far. I’ll definitely be picking this book up again and think it will make a really cozy winter read!

Quin and I made some time to decorate our new apartment for Christmas! This is our first holiday together in our new space and it was so much fun making our home cozy. It definitely was a challenge kitty-proofing these decorations but somehow we made it happen! I cannot wait for our very first Christmas morning together, too!

While shopping with mama one weekend, I went into our local Barnes and Noble and met a local author! Richard Ebert was selling his new release Silentcide 2 - a sequel to his original book about a pair of young sibling assassins!

I am a huge reader of thrillers and these books would have stood out to me regardless, but let me tell you this man knows how to sell a book. You could tell he was truly a fan of his own characters and was so proud of the world he created. I’m looking forward to diving into this series and making a review about it!

I also started reading One Day in December by Josie Silver for my book club. Truthfully, this one sucked me in immediately and I’m really looking forward to finishing it. I did also notice that this book is mentioned in The Love of My Afterlife and thought it was CRAZY that I just happen to be reading both at the same time! Overall, it was a busy month with friends and family which I’m more than pleased with. I’m excited to kick off my birthday month by continuing these books and starting new ones! I hope everyone has a very merry start of December!
